At the Mentally Wealthy blog http://mentallywealthy.org/2013/12/21/the-this-week-in-mentalists-2013-awards-the-winners/ there is an annual “This Week in Mentalists Award”, recognising some of the best in mental health blogging. The public are asked to recommend blogs. Those with the most nominations are then sent to a panel of seven Judges – here’s a link to the Judges profile’s http://mentallywealthy.org/2013/10/01/the-this-week-in-mentalists-awards-2013-meet-the-judges/
I had absolutely no idea that I was even part of those nominations, so I was especially delighted yesterday to discover that I have actually jointly won the ‘This week in Mentalist Award’ under the “Lived Experience’s” category. I’m proud to share my award with everyone. The Judges made the following lovely comments about My Travels with Depression
“Articulate and vivid descriptions of the writer’s experiences”
“The writer brings such an amazing sense of hope to his experiences”
I don’t know who actually nominated my blog, but thank you from the bottom of my heart. It never fails to amaze me that people actually find my writing in the least bit interesting. In such a short space of time, my online community has come to mean so much. By writing and reading other people’s blogs, my journey out of depression is heading towards healing.
In January, I am due to start my two-year Mentalization Based Therapy. At times, it will be tough, but this blog has been preparing me for that journey.
Thank you to everyone who reads and supports my blog and a big thank you to the Mentally Wealthy blog and, of course, the Judges for my very special award.
Bravery, courage, honesty, humanity, humility, expression, truth, understanding, compassion fortitude and warmth. That’s why Cat. That’s what your blog delivers to me. Invaluable. Many, many congratulations. LV xx

Congratulations Cat! Very well deserved. I have this feeling that Oscar would be toasting your win with a saucer of milk right now. 😀 He was part of it after all. And yes, I will always be weird.

I don’t think you’re weird, Cate. I love the thought of Oscar toasting and, yes, he is a huge part of that award.

Best of luck to you too, Cat. I reckon we will both be just as pleased for each other if either of us wins. They are not just stories but integral to our growth. Learn and share, in total honesty, share and learn, could there be a better way to celebrate the unique state of being a human?

Not to say that the laptop is ugly, but it just doesn’t give off that same pompous vibe that the Alienware machines manage to give off. Neither laptop is the most attractive or the most ergonomic, but if you want a gaming laptop on the cheap this is the way to go.
