Flash Fiction – Lady Mary’s Walk

This week’s challenge from Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writer’s is to write 150/175 words using this photo prompt. If you would like to participate in the weekly challenge, here is the link…https://flashfictionforaspiringwriters.wordpress.com

Lexi’s van wheels slowly crunch along the footpath, rupturing the silence of Ladywpid-photo-20150302183203503 Mary’s walk. The exhilarating taste and smell of fear feed a vile addiction, he equally loves and loathes. His callousness tries to converse during their journey, but only one had ever responded.

“This used to be an ideal spot to come after dark, until the locals decided to cash in on this crazy notion of ghosts in the night.” Lexi chortles nervously, he doesn’t like to think what might become of his evil soul if there really is an afterlife.

Lexi’s trembling hands are ice cold with anticipation as he adjusts the rear view mirror, catching sight of his latest conquest lying motionless in the back of his van. It is their eyes he finds the most stimulating, that vacant stare captures their final moments of terror.

“We’re nearly there, my dear,” Lexi says as his van edges closer to the secret gravesite. “Now you can haunt the locals with all the others,” he chortles, “It’s good for village business.”

Lovely, Joy, thank you, I almost didn’t recognise you there, you keep changing appearance, it’s like an episode of Dr Who…lol 🙂

A very chilling but excellent tale. You’ve created a character fit for some TV series (or novel) – lots of episodes as he carries out his gruesome deeds whilst cleverly evading the pursuing detectives. I like the way you make him fear for his evil soul in the afterlife, giving him a certain vulnerability … Well written, Cat. 🙂
Love your blog ‘header’ picture. 🙂

Awe, thank you so much Millie, you captured it very well.

The header picture is of the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

Thank you for your feedback 🙂

Thanks you so much. No, I’m not writing a novel. I don’t usually write fiction, but this just came to mind and I went with it.

Thank you for your feedback 🙂

That’s very sweet of you to say. I never write fiction, but I started doing this once a week challenge, just for something different. Thank you for commenting 🙂

Aww, Cat! What a treat at the end of a long work day! You are surprising me more and more with your extraneous writing. Sinister! Excellent way to channel pent-up frustration. Just make sure you keep it on paper! 😀

So creepy and nice take on the prompt, using it at night. I liked the setting you created and great job on not making this his first victim, kinda puts you right in the middle of the action.

I love a good horror story. Your story was scary. It’s tricky to write a story when you’re only allowed such a small amount of words but you set the scene, drew me in and I loved the twist at the end.

Thank you, I don’t write fiction, so it’s incredibly difficult to paint the scene in less than 175words, but great fun all the same. Thank you for your feedback 🙂

Do you think you will write more fiction? Do you enter the flash fiction writing challenge each week? I went to the link and thought it was a great idea. I might give it a go when I’ve got some time. I really like the concept of being given a picture and then having to come up with the story.

Yer, well, I have a personal connection to that macabre world…lol…not me as the serial killer, but other horrid tales. I appreciate your feedback, thanks

Thank you, Glynis, I wasn’t sure about it, fiction is not something I ever write, this is the third time, but a nice distraction from the norm
